The Rainbow Coalition Movement South-West has set a target of mobilising one million votes across the region for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The Convener of the movement, Prince (Hon.) Olu Adefioye, disclosed this on Friday, October 2, 2026, at a press conference held at Atinuke Complex, Okota Road, Lagos, where he outlined the coalition’s mobilisation strategy ahead of the election.
Adefioye said the coalition, which describes itself as a non-partisan and all-inclusive platform, was bringing together supporters drawn from different political parties and interest groups across the six South-West states to build grassroots support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
He said the movement’s immediate task was to translate its support for the President into a structured grassroots mobilisation effort capable of delivering one million votes from the South-West.
According to him, members of the coalition include youth and women leaders, artisans, professionals, market men and women, students and other supporters spread across Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
“Our mission is singular, noble and unambiguous: to mobilize, sensitize, and galvanize grassroots support for the actualization of the second-term presidency of His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, come 2027,” he said.
Adefioye said achieving the target would require sustained engagement at the grassroots, urging members to move beyond what he described as “armchair politics” and take the campaign directly to communities.
He called for door-to-door mobilisation, community advocacy and voter engagement across wards, streets and households, stressing that the coalition intended to take its message of support for the administration to the grassroots.
The convener also acknowledged the economic difficulties associated with the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms but argued that the measures were necessary to lay the foundation for long-term economic growth.

He expressed confidence in what he described as signs of economic stabilisation and urged Nigerians to remain patient with the administration.
The coalition also declared its support for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom Adefioye credited with demonstrating what he described as commitment to national unity and infrastructural development.
He said the South-West coalition was collaborating with Wike and awaiting further directives as it intensifies its mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election.
Adefioye subsequently called on the coalition’s coordinators and members across the six South-West states to intensify their activities, saying the one-million-vote target would require coordinated efforts across the region.
The movement adopted “Unity, Progress, Good Governance, Democracy” as its slogan.
