Thousands of cars in the United Kingdom are part of a global recall of 6.5million vehicles by Toyota and Nissan over a potential airbag fault, it was revealed last week.
The Japanese motoring giants want to replace potentially faulty airbag inflators made by supplier Takata – but stressed the recall was for “investigative purposes” and that no accidents or injuries had been reported involving their own vehicles.
However, six deaths in Honda cars – five in the US and one in Malaysia – have been linked to faulty Takata airbags.

Toyota , the world’s biggest car manufacturer, said it was recalling just under 5million vehicles, including the Corolla, Yaris and other models made between March 2003 and November 2007.
