Save Nigeria Group To Commence Capacity Building For Members In USA

Port industry activist group, the Save Nigerian Freight Forwarders Importers Exporters Coalition said that some of its members will travel to the United State of America on leadership and maritime related training programme this year.

Speaking in an exclusive chat with Shipping Position Daily last week in Lagos, National Coordinator of the group , Sir Patrick Osita Chukwu said that the foreign programme is designed to transform members attitude and orientations as regards port operations.

Osita told our correspondent that the training of members will run for two weeks in April, noting that seven of its members have been selected to travel to the United State of America for the training.

The courses according to Osita centred round, maritime, shipping and leadership and citizenship education.

Speaking further, the port activist added that the training goes beyond maritime training, because according to him, members need to be vast in their quest to achieve greatness.

He disclosed that the training will commence in April at a certain institute named Lay Leader Foundation in Nashville USA.

Apart from manpower development programme in the USA, the coordinator said "training of members is of great significant to our group, the maritime sector and the nation in general."

He also noted that seven of the members that will benefit from the training in Nashville will later impact on other members who may be unable to make the foreign programme.

Describing the programme as a train-the-trainers innovation, the Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders Importers Exporters Coalition, said that its manpower development programme is aimed at transforming members, urging the favoured members to be level headed when dealing the other maritime operators including government agencies hence nobody must should take them for a ride.
