Seme Customs Gets New Area Controller

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has welcomed Comptroller A. L. Kaila, as its new Controller.

Kaila formally took over the mantle of leadership from Comptroller Wale Adenuga at the ECOWAS Joint Border Post, Seme-Krake Border Post, on Wednesday.

The former comptroller Adenuga officially handed over the reigns of leadership to him, marking the end of his tenure as the Customs Area Controller of the Command.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Adenuga said the command had increased revenue from N5.17 million to N1.5 billion.

He described the feat as a testament to hard work and dedication of officers and men of the command.

He urged men and officers of the command to cooperate with the new controller in order to achieve greatness.

Adenuga thanked officers and sister agencies at the command for their support during his tenure as the controller of the command.

Responding, the new controller described the Seme command as a familiar unit having served in other capacities within frontier border.

He commended the outgoing controller, for what he described as a legacy of “sterling leadership,” citing his tenure as one of strategic gains in revenue collection, anti-smuggling success, and stakeholders engagement.

He called on officers and men of the Command remain disciplined and professional, noting that unity and ethical conduct would be essential for the Command’s success.

Kaila reiterated the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service-revenue generation, trade facilitation, suppression of smuggling, and national security as his priorities.

He, however, solicited the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, noting that collective efforts would propel the command to greater heights in spite of the tasks ahead.

Present at the ceremony are officials of FRSC, Nigerian Army, Police, Port Health Service, Immigration, Nigeria Air Force, NDLEA and community leaders in Seme, among others.
