Sen. Solomon Adeola, APC governorship candidate in Ogun, has commended President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Dapo Abiodun over the $7 billion investment deal for the gateway deep seaport.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Friday by Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Adeola and Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Ogun APC Campaign Council.
According to the statement, the deal, signed in France, with DP World MEA FZE, also covers the proposed Ogun State Blue Marine Special Economic Zone.
Adeola said the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), when implemented, would transform Ogun’s economy through increased marine trade, manufacturing, and export activities.
He said the projects were expected to create more than 50,000 jobs and ease pressure on ports in Lagos.
The senator commended the vision behind the investment, saying it would revolutionise Ogun’s blue marine economy and enhance the state’s economic potential.
Adeola said the deal showed that the economic objectives of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda were on course to deliver more benefits.
“I commend our President for looking beyond the ordinary to initiate beneficial projects that will positively impact the future of our nation.
“We look forward to harnessing all the advantages and resources of Ogun for the benefit of our people,” Adeola said.
He listed the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal road and Badagry-Sokoto road among federal projects that would also impact positively on Ogun.
Adeola also commended Abiodun for creating an environment conducive to attracting the latest investment to the state.
He urged Ogun residents to support the re-election of Tinubu and other APC candidates to ensure continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The APC candidate promised to sustain the development strides of the incumbent administration and collaborate with the federal government on completing major projects.
He said this would be done to ensure that the people of Ogun derived maximum benefits from the state’s strategic economic position.
He described Ogun State as uniquely positioned as a gateway to both Nigeria and the broader West African sub-region.
