President of Federation of Nigerian Shippers’ Association, Dr Ayo Omotoso, has urged the Federal Government to dedicate one or two ports for exportation of locally-produced agricultural products and solid minerals.
Omotoso said this in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos last week.
According to him, when the dry port and the border markets are operational, goods produced at the Export Processing Zones near the dry ports and border markets can be exported without delay.

Omotoso said this in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos last week.
According to him, when the dry port and the border markets are operational, goods produced at the Export Processing Zones near the dry ports and border markets can be exported without delay.
He said that the dedicated ports for export would create more jobs and promote technology, adding that government would also earn more revenue and keep the dry ports busy.
Omotoso advised shippers to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations governing international trade to boost exports.
He also urged exporters to pay more attention to quality specifications so that they would not“ lose part or entire friends in transactions“.
The shipper said that the central bank’s foreign exchange regulations required all exporters (oil and non-oil) to open an Export Proceeds Domiciliary Account with the processing bank in Nigeria.
“This is to ensure that the export proceeds are credited to the account within 180 days from the date of shipment of the goods,’’ he said.
