Shipping Position Weekly Publisher Bags POTMAN Fellowship

Frontline maritime journalist and publisher of the award-wining maritime industry publication; Shipping Position Weekly newspaper, Mr Sesan Onileimo has bagged the prestigious fellowship of the Port & Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria (POTMAN).
Mr Onileimo joins the elite league of frontline operators like: the Chairman, African Business Roundtable, Dr Bamanga Tukur, managing director, APM Terminal, Mr Martins Dirk as well as the managing director, Sifax Group, Dr Taiwo Afolabi and a host of other notable maritime industry players as fellows of POTMAN; an academic institution that was created to train shipping practitioners in the specific areas of port and terminal management.
Presenting the fellowship award certificate to the publisher of Shipping Position Weekly recently in Lagos, registrar of the academy, Dr Samuel Babatunde disclosed that Mr Onileimo was singled out for the honour out of many stakeholders whose names came up and whose academic and professional qualifications were considered because “you stood out among your professional colleagues as a the bridge between maritime journalism and maritime practice, you are one of the first, if not the first to acquire relevant maritime-centred academic and professional training in addition to your well acclaimed professional excellence in maritime journalism”.  
“We at POTMAN have followed your diligence and commitment in your chosen field and we are proud to confer the fellowship of the academy on you, we are very certain that the maritime industry will need your expertise,” he stressed.     
 
Mr Onileimo who recently emerged as the “Best Maritime Editor” in the “Evergreen National Maritime Merit Award, 2009” is already a fellow and Council member of the Nigerian Institute of Shipping (NIS). This is in addition to emerging as the winner of the Maritime Industry Merit Award in 1999 as the best reporter.
He started his journalism career as a reporter with Champion Newspapers where he actually cut his teeth as a maritime journalist. He later rose to become the newspaper’s Deputy News Editor in 2003. In 1998, he won the Chief Bob Ogbuagu prize as Champion Newspaper’s best reporter.
He is also a former president of Maritime Reporters’ Association of Nigeria.
