Chief Executive Officer of the Sifax Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi has been awarded with a professional doctorate degree by the Port and Terminal Management Academy of Nigeria (POTEMAN).  The Doctorate is in Port Terminal Industry Management Strategy and Presentation.

During the presentation of the award to the Sifax boss, last week in Lagos, POTEMAN Registrar, Dr. Babatunde Samuel said that the award came at time when the company has made tremendous contributions to the nation's economy which cut across both airport and seaport transportation system.

Dr Samuel said Dr. Afolabi’s involvement in the oil and gas and economic activities made the board to decide that he should be honoured with the Doctorate.

He said that the board found Sifax boss as a distinguish personality that is very deserving to be honoured with the prestigious laurel.

The Registrar expressed satisfaction about the performances of the company's operations adding that Dr. Taiwo Afolabi is unique to the maritime school.

However, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi is also the chairman of POTEMAN.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Sifax boss, Director of Administration and Human Resources of the company; Dr. Phil Ofulue said the honour goes to the company and not for the person of Dr Afolabi.

Dr. Ofulue reiterated that the company and the maritime institute are partners in progress, adding that the chairman plays significant roles in both organisations.

The director commended the academy for its outstanding performance in training of personnel from the maritime industry in the area of port operations.

He said without an honour, people will not be encouraged to do more or perform better, noting that POTEMAN is an academy that is structured and strategic for the industry.

Dr. Ofulue  added that, "for reasons best known to you apart from our excellent outing and relevant contribution in the maritime sector, you may have other reasons why you like us best, the truth is that nobody can fault your observations"

He further added that "what even POTEMAN gives to our chairman is automatically for the company and for the group because he doesn’t  personalise honours and that is why we feel very enthusiastic and ed in doing everything that will bring honour to us ".

Staff of the company who were in attendance include: Secretary General, Djoubiti Consul Dr. Folake Rogers, Secretary to the Chairman, Barrister Ajewole Ezekiel, image maker of the company; Mr. Oliver Omajuwa.

While from POTEMAN, there were: Director Research and Training, Mr. Cyril Okoro and Tunji Obagbo, the academy's Director of Finance and Administration.
