The Executive Director (Administration), SIFAX Group, Dr Phil Ofulue, has said that the Group would invest in infrastructure and capacity building, to make Nigeria the hub of international shipping.
He stated this on Wednesday at the unveiling of the company’s new market identity in Lagos.
Ofulue was represented by the Secretary to the Djibouti Consul-General in Nigeria, Mrs Folake Rogers.
The Sifax Group, under whose umbrella is Ports and Cargo Handling Services Ltd, took over Terminal `C’ of the Tin-Can Island Port in 2006.
Ofolue said the Group was now three decades old, saying that it had taken the lead in the area of innovation for improving infrastructure development, capacity development, workforce remuneration and social responsibility.
He said: “The re-engineering of the SIFAX Group had led to the repositioning of the company’s business practices, processes and procedures.
“We recognise the prime place that the customer occupies in our business and we daily seek better ways to exceed the expectations of the customer,’’ Ofulue said.
He said the Group’s new identity “signifies the intention of the company to transit from a Nigerian business brand to a global one.
“Our presence and representation in almost all the continents of the world show the level of our ambition and future plans,’’ Ofulue said.
He said that the Group intended to offer world-class services and solutions in maritime, aviation, haulage, logistics, oil and gas, and hospitality to the target market across the globe.
Ofulue commended the efforts of the maritime media for effective reportage of the activities of the Group, adding that SIFAX would set the stage in deepening its relationship with the media.
The Chief Executive Officer, SIFAX Shipping Ltd, Mr Markus Brinkmann, said the new website would unveil a world-class brand that would compete with others in the world.
Brinkman said the new brand would increase the number of customers and also attract more investors to work together with the group.
He said that the company was ready to give stakeholders insights to the unveiling of the new brand.
The Wife of the Group Executive Vice-Chairman, SIFAX Group; Mrs Afolashade Afolabi, said the idea of `SIFAX‘emanated during the childhood days of her husband.
She said her husband’s commitment and hard work resulted to the company’s growth over the years.
Afolabi thanked the workers, especially those who had been with the company over the years, for their commitment toward the growth of the company.
In his remark, the Corporate Affairs Manager, Sifax Group, Mr Muyiwas Akande, said the new identity was a tool of communication to all stakeholders in the industry.
He said the company still maintained its Orange colour “which signifies safety, which is the hallmark of the SIFAX Group’’.
Meanwhile, the Chief Operating Officer, Skyway Aviation Handling Company Ltd (SAHCOL); a subsidaory Mr Rizwan Kadri, unveiled a new uniform for the company’s workers.
“SAHCOL provides aviation ground handling services to its customers at the airports across the country,’’ he said.
Kadri said the new uniforms would be used in 2016.
He said that SAHCOL looked forward to taking SIFAX Group to a higher level in the New Year.
