SPOTLIGHT: Tamrose Limited Expand Operations into Angola, Strengthens Position as a Pan-African Marine Logistics Services Provider

Tamrose Limited, a leading indigenous marine logistics and offshore support company, has expanded its operations into Angola, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ambition to build a stronger presence across Africa’s maritime and energy markets. The expansion also advances Tamrose’s broader strategy of following Africa’s offshore hydrocarbon footprint and taking its capabilities into new markets.

The company has established a formal operational presence in Angola and secured a multiple, five-year Offshore Support Vessels contract with a leading international oil company (IOC), providing a platform to deploy its marine logistics capabilities in another major African energy market.

This pivotal growth milestone was made possible by Tamrose’s strategic partnership with Afreximbank, which enabled the addition of three extra PSVs — Aurora Diamond, Sapphire and Emerald — to its rapidly expanding fleet, bringing the company’s total to 15 seagoing vessels. This investment has now become the take-off point for Tamrose’s operations in Angola, with Aurora Emerald among the vessels being deployed under the new five-year OSV contract, providing marine logistics support, including the transportation of deck and bulk cargo to and from the client’s offshore facilities.

This expansion comes after a period of significant growth for Tamrose, supported by strategic institutional and financial partnerships that have enabled the company to substantially strengthen its operational capacity. Since accessing a US$10 million facility through the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund (NCI Fund) and an additional $20 million Asset Acquisition Loan from Union Bank in 2019, Tamrose has not only grown its fleet from four to 15 active Offshore Support Vessels, comprising 10 security patrol vessels and five Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) but have also successfully repaid both loans (without missing a single installment) since 2025.

Speaking on the expansion, Mr. Ambrose Ovbiebo, Executive Chairman, Tamrose Limited, said:

“As an organisation, we have spent the past decade building operational capability, fleet strength, governance structures, and strategic partnerships required to deliver excellent services and compete beyond our home market. These new five-year offshore support contracts demonstrate the confidence that leading International Oil Companies (IOCs) have in our ability to deliver reliable marine support at scale. In this context, the establishment of our Angolan office, provides evidence of our direction of travel and a strong platform to extend our capabilities while maintaining the standards that have shaped our reputation and growth in Nigeria.

While Nigeria will always be fundamental to the Tamrose story, our entry into Angola allows us to build on that experience, deploy our assets within another major African energy market, and demonstrate that African owned marine businesses can provide world-class, safe, reliable and effective marine logistics services across the continent.”

The company’s participation as a panelist in the Angola Local Content Development Forum, organised by Afreximbank as part of the 2026 Angola Oil & Gas Conference in Luanda further reinforced our commitment to adding value to each host country as we expand operations across the continent.

Tamrose’s expansion into the Angolan oil and gas sector demonstrates the readiness of a Pan-African company to redefine the marine logistics services sector narrative hitherto dominated by foreign owned vessels operating within the Gulf of Guinea. By exporting its 100% planned uptime model across the entire OSV service spectrum, the company is positioned to increasingly capture marine solutions contracts across the continent. By establishing a permanent presence in Angola and staging technical assets closer to emerging deepwater projects, the firm is setting the stage to lead cross-border energy logistics for the next decade.

The expansion also reflects a highly disciplined growth model: strategic partnerships enabling investment in assets acquisition, revolving investment in strengthening operational capability, and leveraging resulting operational excellence to unlock long-term commercial opportunities.  As pursue our Pan-African vision, Tamrose will continue to focus on its core strengths — marine logistics, offshore solutions, marine security and risk management — while leveraging its operational experience, skilled workforce and growing asset base to serve clients across the continent and take measured advantage of emerging opportunities.

Since its inception, Tamrose Limited has consistently demonstrated its commitment to indigenous capacity development, human capital growth, and community empowerment through a range of initiatives. The company has created nearly 350 direct jobs, supported over 650 indirect family livelihoods across the maritime ecosystem, and trained more than 120 cadets under the Tamrose Cadetship Training Scheme to international seafaring standards. The company has also enhanced healthcare accessibility for its workforce, enrolling over 1,550 employees in HMOs, and continues to accelerate the local content aspirations of her host nations. Beyond business growth, these initiatives underscore Tamrose’s ongoing commitment to building a strong, skilled, and sustainable Pan-African maritime ecosystem for the development of Africa and the globe.
