Transport Ministry Reels Out Guidelines For CRFFN Governing Council Elections

The supervisory Federal Ministry of Transport has approved guidelines for the much-expected elections into governing council of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
One of our correspondents has confirmed that the guideline was part of the fallout of a recent meeting between the five associations that are registered by the CRFFN and officials of the Transport Ministry.
According to our source, the ministry has directed that, to start with, there should be a proper documentation of all registered freight forwarders.

According to our source, the ministry has directed that, to start with, there should be a proper documentation of all registered freight forwarders.
Specifically, the guideline says that the CRFFN must carry out “Proper documentation of a freight forwarder and his firm, which names must appear on the Council’s Register as a proof of being a Registered Freight Forwarder or a firm.
To be a partaker in the electoral process, there must also be Membership Identity Card and a Certificate issued by the CFFN.
There is also a requirement that, such a person must possess a Certificate of attendance of any of the CRFFN’s Mandatory Professional Development or Training Programmes. The certificate must be issued by the Nigeria Institute of Freight Forwarding and Customs Broker (NIFFCB) or any of CRFFN’s designated training institutions.
Our correspondent was however unable to ascertain the probable date of the elections.
But, Shipping Position Daily recalls that at a meeting with leaders of the associations recently in Abuja, the Inspector-General (IG) of Police; Solomon Arase had urged the CRFFN to conduct elections into its governing council within two months.
