A naval officer; Navy Capt. George Alily has urged members of  Women In Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) in Nigeria to imbibe the six attributes of positive change to help transform the Nigerian society.
Alily made the plea in Lagos while reviewing a book he wrote with the title: “Defining Personal Six Virtues That Transform Society“, at the monthly meeting of the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA Nigeria).
He said that the book would serve as a guide for them toward transforming the society for the better.

According to him, “it is within our capacity as human beings to make the changes we want to see in our nation and in our society.
“Changes happen if we act; that is the sum total of the essence of the book.
“ (The) six virtues as espoused in the book are honour, integrity, responsibility, courage, belief and justice.
“If those virtues are in-built in the people, they will drive the way we see things, have a positive impact in society and make the necessary changes we want to see happening in our country and in our society as a whole.“
He suggested that the most effective way of fulfilling the virtues was through promotion, encouragement and teaching.
“The benefits are varied. It exposes one to these virtues; it would give you a theoretical under-pinning of the virtues.
“It takes one person to make a change to begin to drive the momentum to make a change.
“Is exemplified with what has just happened in Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari is a change agent that is driving the change in the country.
“So it takes one person. It does not mean that he would do everything but one person can make the change that we want to see.
“It has happened in history. We have examples of Martin Luther King Jnr. in the United States; the Great Mahatma Gandhi; or Nelson Mandela.
“These men exemplified change. From them, they were inspirational and things happened from them. “
Alily, however, said it was within human capacity to make fundamental change which would have positive impact on peoples’ lives.
