The Cabotage law implementation review committee that was set up by the minister of state for water transportation, Prince Okechukwu Emeka has shifted its sitting to Lagos.
Contrary to earlier reports that the Senator Ugochukwu Uba committee had submitted its report, our correspondent learnt last week that the committee that the committee was yet to finish its work.
Consequently, it is expected to meet stakeholders for two days in Lagos beginning from October 9, 2008, that is next week Thursday at a location that we could not confirm as at press time.
ur source confirmed that the committee had logistics problem and that at a time funding became a problem, a development which delayed the completion of the assignment.

The stakeholders committee was inaugurated about three months ago to review the process of implementing the five year old Cabotage Act with a view to ascertaining its success or otherwise.
Shipping Position Weekly confirmed that its assignment is completely different from attempts to review that Act itself and that it is the National Assembly that can do that in collaboration with stakeholders.
Members of the committee are drawn from indigenous ship owners, master mariners, the Maritime Workers Union, the Merchant Navy and Water Transport Senior Staff Association, among others.
