The World Health Organisation (WHO) expressed hope that Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus would be distributed through the COVAX international programme after receiving the organisation authorisation for emergency use.
“We hope Gamaleya [research institute] will join Covax on the condition it receives organisation emergency use listing,” the WHO said.
The WHO held a session to discuss additional data related to the Russian vaccine on Monday. The next round of negotiations is slated for Feb. 15.
The coronavirus had infected 107,059,323, so far 2,337,992 deaths and 78,941,251 had recovered.
