Nigerdock commissions 2 ExxonMobil’s Oil Platforms

Foremost industrial fabrication company Nigerdock has successfully completed and commissioned the Abang and Itut platforms which are part of 3 well-head platforms in the Satellite Fields Development Project – Phase I of Oil multinational Exxonmobil.
SFDP according the Exxonmobil seeks to recover hydrocarbons from viable undeveloped fields within the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC /Mobil Producing Nigeria, MPN Joint Venture’s acreage.

SFDP according the Exxonmobil seeks to recover hydrocarbons from viable undeveloped fields within the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC /Mobil Producing Nigeria, MPN Joint Venture’s acreage.
“There are over 20 fields that have been identified for development which will be carried out in phases and a key element of the project is a strong Nigerian content focus” the company said in a statement issued in Lagos last week.
It stated further that the 2 platforms fabricated by Nigerdock will produce up to 62kBD crude oil and 8kBD NGL at peak (70KBD liquids).
Production is to start in 2012. While funding for SFDP phase 1 was provided by a consortium of Nigerian and foreign banks. 2.3 million Man-hours worked with no Lost Time Incident (LTI). Safety Partnership Program implemented by MPN/ND at three levels (Tier 1 -3).
About 10,000 MPN Safety Training man-hours at ND reflected in world class performance. 2,333 Tons (Itut & Abang) of structural welding completed to date. A total of 30 NCDMB nominees were trained at Nigerdock as Welders (20) and Fitters (10) for the Satellite Field Development Project.
Integrated team approach – implemented by MPN/ND, helped to transfer technology and develop contractor capability” the statement reads in part.
It would be recalled however, that Nigerdock fabricated and completed the load-out of 7,500 tons of structural components for Total’s USAN FPSO. Nigerdock completed the project on time with 1.8 million man-hours LTI free.
The FPSO construction was awarded to Hyunday Heavy Industries in 2008. The vessel is approximately 320 meters long and 60 meters wide, and weighs about 114,000 metric tons.
The Total Usan field lies in block OML 138, around 100km offshore Nigeria in water depths of up to 800 meters. The field is operated by Total Nigeria (20%) on behalf of equity partners Chevron Petroleum Nigeria (30%), Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (30%) and Nexen Petroleum Nigeria (20%). The field is expected to start producing in 2012 with a production capacity of 180,000bpd of oil.
