Disruption and Opposition Tactics Mar Botched ANLCA NEC Meeting, Revealing Deep Divisions—Iwuchukwu

In a statement provided to our correspondent on Friday, Val Iwuchukwu, a member of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), detailed the chaotic events that unfolded during the botched NEC Meeting on 26-06-2023. He alleged that the opposition deliberately brought unauthorized individuals to the meeting, causing chaos and shedding light on underlying issues and motivations.

The NEC Meeting was intended to lay the groundwork for a unity government within ANLCA and establish a framework for the upcoming NECOM election. However, concerns arise as the election is expected to be one-sided, potentially jeopardizing the desired unity within the association.

According to Iwuchukwu, individuals who feared Chief Sir Henry Njoku’s resurgence in the Board of Trustees (BOT) decided to boycott the meeting, leading to panic and disarray. Furthermore, he claimed that the opposing faction employed miscreants, referred to as the Task Force, to disrupt the proceedings and discredit their opponents.

Amidst the chaos, he said “Chief Sir Henry Njoku, a respected ANLCA figure and Knight of the Great Indigenous Order of Saint Mulumba, maintained his composure and chose to gracefully withdraw from the situation. His recent address at the Swiss Spirit Hotel in Port Harcourt emphasized the significance of attitude and service in positions of authority. He expressed his pride as an ANLCA Patron and vowed to elevate the position to attract aspiring members. Chief Sir Henry Njoku highlighted the importance of selflessness and problem-solving as key qualities for success, promising abundant rewards to those who embody these principles.

“Notably, Chief Sir Henry Njoku willingly stepped aside from the BOT, allowing new leaders to assume their roles and contribute their talents. Despite his influential position within ANLCA, he aspires to reach greater political heights beyond the confines of the BOT. His stature in Imo State politics attracts attention and courtship from various groups, owing to his exceptional abilities and contributions.

“Ikeoha Gburugburu, Chief Sir Henry Njoku’s political alter ego, possesses remarkable charisma, connections, and resources, enabling him to navigate any situation and persuade opposing voices to find common ground. His commanding presence and gentle disposition open doors to diverse opportunities. While ANLCA may not be an immediate necessity in his life, the association heavily relies on his invaluable contributions” he said

The NEC Meeting aimed to address concerns beyond the unity government, specifically guarding against potential legal challenges questioning the validity of the election supervised by the BOT due to registration issues.

“Despite the disruptive events at the National Secretariat on 26-06-2023. ANLCA remains resolute in its unchanged attitude and plans, firmly committed to preventing unworthy hands from seizing control of the association”, Iwuchukwu said.
