The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNOWTSSA) has expressed deep condolences over the demise of Mrs. Sekinat Atinuke Awonuga, the mother of Capt. Saliu Adetayo Awonuga, Chairman of the Shipping Zonal Council.
According to a press statement made available to our correspondent, Late Mrs. Awonuga passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at approximately in her hometown of Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. She was 86 years old. The late matriarch was laid to rest according to Islamic rites on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
In a heartfelt message, the leadership of the association extended their sympathies to Capt. Awonuga, his family, friends, and well-wishers during this time of grief. “May her soul rest in peace with Allah and find solace in His sight,” they prayed.
“The late Mrs. Awonuga is remembered for her life of impact and devotion to her family and community. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of many, and prayers have been offered for her eternal rest.
“May Allah grant Capt. Awonuga and his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss” it noted.
