Customs Board Promotes 3,312 Officers, Appoints Olomu, Others as ACGs

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs) and 12 Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs), including Babatunde Olomu, who until his elevation was the Customs Area Comptroller of Apapa Command. The Board also approved the promotion of 3,312 senior officers in one of the Service’s biggest personnel exercises in recent years.

The decisions were contained in a press statement issued by the Service’s National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, following the 63rd regular meeting of the Board held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.

Olomu, whose tenure at Apapa Command saw him preside over Customs’ busiest revenue-generating area, joins 11 others elevated to the ACG rank. The other appointees are M.P. Binga (North-East), C.A. Awo (South-East), A.B. Shuaibu (North-Central), A.T. Abe (North-West), K. Mohammed (North-West), B. Mohammed (North-West), T.M. Daniyan (North-Central), B. Oramalugo (South-East), O.P. Olaniyan (South-West), I.K. Oladeji (South-West), and C.C. Dim (South-East).

Those appointed as DCGs include A.B. Mohammed (North-West), G.O. Omale (North-Central), O.C. Orbih (South-South), and D. Nnadi (South-East).

In addition to the appointments, the Board approved the promotion of 3,312 senior officers across ranks from Comptroller of Customs to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II). At its 6th Management Meeting on August 29, 2025, the Service’s management also promoted 202 junior officers from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Customs Assistant I (CA I).

Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, congratulated the newly-appointed officers and noted that the promotions reflected the Service’s commitment to merit-based career growth and recognition of outstanding performance.
