The Tin-Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has set a new revenue record, collecting ₦159 billion in August 2025, the highest monthly figure in the command’s history.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, announced the milestone during a ceremony at the command headquarters to decorate newly promoted officers.
Comptroller Onyeka attributed the breakthrough to the successful deployment of the indigenous B’Odogwu trade platform, which he said has significantly improved trade facilitation and enhanced revenue performance.
“Everybody here is part of this achievement, but to whom much is given, much is expected. I sincerely appreciate the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for recognising the contributions of officers”, Onyeka said.
The Area Controller also disclosed that 87 percent of officers from the command who participated in the recent promotion examinations scaled through. Among them, was the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara, who was elevated from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent of Customs.
Comptroller Onyeka encouraged those yet to be promoted to remain dedicated, assuring them that “their turn will come.”
He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to trade facilitation, revenue protection, and support for port stakeholders.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, families, and stakeholders, who joined in celebrating both the command’s record performance and the career progression of its personnel.
