The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘A’, of the Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted 16 exotic vehicles with Duty Paid Value (DPV) of, N340, 770, 509.055.
The Customs Area Controller in charge of the unit, Comptroller Muhammed Uba, disclosed this last week to newsmen in Lagos.
Speaking during at a press briefing, he disclosed specifically that the 16 exotic vehicles most of them 2017 included : 2 Lexus Jeeps (RS350 2016, 2017 model), 1 Rolls Royce, 1 Lincoln Limousine (2014), 3 Toyota Camry (2009, 2013 and 2017 models), 1 Toyota RAV 4, 1 Toyota Avalon (2016), 1 Toyota Tundra, 1 Dodge, among others.
Comptroller Mohammed informed that while six vehicles out of the number were evacuated along Lekki-Epe expressway based on intelligence, the remaining 10 were intercepted during patrol at various locations.
“The vehicles are still under detention pending the grace period allowed for the owners to bring relevant customs documents”, he said.
Meanwhile the Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Mr. Jerome Attah, has said that between October 2017 and February 2018, 85 Debit Notes (DN) was raised for 85 vehicles in the unit.
In a chat with Shipping Position daily, he said that out of the DN raised, N246, 287, 348 was collected.
He also said that 78 vehicles were seized in one year between January 2017 to January 2018 while 78 had DPV of N1, 991, 620, 218.
