An Apapa Magistrates court last week docked a 36-year old car dealer; Tobi Vincent for stealing and for impersonating as a clearing agent.
Tobi who is facing a two-count charge brought against him before the court denied committing all the offences.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Balogun Adeniyi, told the court that in January 2019 at Tin-Can Island port, the defendant obtained the sum of N1, 100, 000 from one Nnachi Michael with the pretence of selling a 2006 model of Toyota Corolla car to him which he failed to do.
Balogun in his second submission said also that the defendant in October 2018 also collected the sum of N3, 650, 000 from one Sylvester Okeke with the pretence of purchasing a Toyota Highlander vehicle for him, which he didn’t do.
The Prosecutor also accused the Tobi, of collecting the sum N1020,000 from Adu Kayode with the pretence of clearing one DAF truck and a Mercedez car, which he also failed to do.
He said that the offences are punishable under sections 314(3), 287 of the criminal laws of Lagos state 2015.
The Magistrate, Kadiri Mikail Olukayode granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum for the first suit, N300, 000 with two sureties for the second suit and N500, 000 with two sureties for the third suit.
The case was adjourned till 21 of June 2019 for mention.
