Agents protest at PTML over alleged extortion and multiple alerts

Clearing agents operating at the Ports & Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) yesterday protested over what they described as extortion and multiple alerts coming from officers of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) attached to the command.

The agents were seen protesting in front of Customs office of the command to express their dissatisfaction.

When Shipping Position Daily contacted the PTML chapter chairman of the National Association of the Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Mr. George Okafor to ascertain the cause of the action, he said he can't give details of the issue as he was not on ground to know.

Meanwhile when our correspondent tried to get reaction from the custom's Public Relations Officer (PRO) PTML command, Mr. Muhammad Yakubu, he did   not pick his calls.

However, the command's image-maker reacted through an online platform that the protesters are mostly touts even as he added that the situation was under control.

"All things are under control but mostly those people you see are not customs license agent some of them are tout"
