After being declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Director General, National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons, NATFORCE; Dr. Emmanuel Osita Okereke has alleged that former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki wanted him dead for reporting some of his (Dasuki) activities to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Okereke, who is also the President of Importers Association of Nigeria, and who was recently declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also alleged last weekend that the ex-NSA masterminded the illegal importation of arms into the country through Seme border.
The NATFORCE boss also threw his weight behind the Department of State Services, DSS, for preventing Dasuki from traveling abroad.
However, briefing journalists in Enugu, the NATFORCE DG advocated that anybody standing trial on criminal case should not be allowed to travel overseas under whatever guise.
He alleged that Dasuki was one of the people that deceived former President, Goodluck Jonathan, when he convinced him to remove all the service chiefs.
According to him, “There is information we made available to the former President and he was directed to invite us for more information but Dasuki rebuffed it because he was trying to save his boys and agents.
“We know how many arms that entered this country illegally through various borders, which ex-NSA concealed and protected the suspects.
“My men intercepted 12 trailer load of ammunition at Seme border, and Col. Sambo used his boys to clear the arms and threatened to assassinate me when I wrote to the former President Jonathan”.
He alleged that Dasuki had concluded plans to flee to Syria, adding that “former EFCC boss Ibrahim Lamorde has escaped through Chad border, before fleeing abroad; it would be disastrous for the country if Dasuki escapes trial.”
Shipping Position Daily recalls that Okereke was declared wanted by the EFCC, for jumping bail.
Okereke, a former presidential aspirant under the platform of the Nigerian Liberation Party, NLP, is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a six-count charge of impersonation, forgery and obtaining by false pretence.
He was arraigned on November 21, 2013 before Justice J. Y. Tukur of the FCT High Court, Apo, Abuja for allegedly forging a document of the Federal Government titled “Restricted, Federal Government of Nigeria, National Task Force”. He alleged falsely held public offices as DG and director, FCT Command of National Task Force, through which along with Ishmeal Chinyere Nwogu, he fraudulently obtained money from sale of employment forms.
Okereke, who was arrested with several incriminating items, including bullet proof vests, has however, jumped bail and is currently wanted by the EFCC.
The EFFC alleged further that Okereke operates a syndicate, which maintains offices across the country, defrauding unsuspecting members of the public, by selling recruitment forms for N5,000 in the guise that they would be offered job by the federal government.
