Newly-elected National Trustee of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC); Comrade Adewale Adeyanju has assured that he will use his new position in the NLC to continue to champion the cause of the nation’s maritime industry.
Adeyanju who is also the President General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) told our correspondent that he owed his election as the Trustee to the workers in the nation’s maritime industry.
He also assured that, even though he is the National Trustee of the NLC, his immediate constituency; the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria will continue to be his priority.
“I see my election into the National Executive Council of the NLC as a call to service, I owe the election to God Almighty and my immediate constituency; the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria”.
“I rose through the ranks in the union to where I am today, where I take responsibilities for the entire members of the union, it is a great task and I am happy that I am the President General”
“My election in the NLC is an icing on the cake. It is a call to higher service, and by the Grace of God, I will not disappoint”, he told Shipping Position Daily.
Comrade Adeyanju emerged alongside Comrade Ayuba Wabba (President, Amaechi Asuguni, first deputy president; Muhammed Idris, second deputy president, and Najim Yasim, third deputy president. Other are: Vice-Presidents – Abdrafiu Adeniji, Peters Adeyemi, Lawrence Amaechi and Oyelakan Lateef who was returned unopposed. Other officials elected include Marven Adamu, National Financial Secretary.
