Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Dakuku Peterside has been honored by the City People Magazine for his 'sterling leadership qualities' and in recognition of his milestone achievements in NIMASA after two years in office.
Peterside was honuored at the 21st City People Awards for Excellence 2018 which on Sunday in Lagos. He was honoured alongside other eminent Nigerians, business men and four state governors, namely Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Ibrahim Dakwambo of Gombe state.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the ceremony, the NIMASA boss expressed gratitude to the organizers, even as he described the award as a booster for the agency to further galvanize investors into the inherent potentials in the Nigerian Blue Economy.
He said that today, the whole country is aware NIMASA is making a difference in the maritime space by contributing to the economic development of the country, creating employment, giving people opportunities they would continue to remember for a lifetime.
The DG also pointed out that the maritime sector has the capacity to catalyse the economic growth of Nigeria and that NIMASA is not resting on its oars until everybody acknowledges the fact that maritime is a catalyst for accelerated economic development.

Peterside said that City People Award is special because of the integrity of the publishers. He said several organizations within and outside the country have written to NIMASA to honor her but they were turned down.
He dedicated the award to God and the stakeholders in the maritime sector.
On his part, Publisher of City People Magazine, Seye Kehinde said that Dakuku Peterside is being recognized because of his outstanding leadership qualities and for turning around the fortunes of NIMASA under two years.
