There was pandemonium along Apapa-Oshodi expressway yesterday as a trigger-happy Policeman killed one unidentified tanker driver at Trinity bus stop along Apapa Oshodi expressway on Thursday.
Two tanker drivers were also said to have sustained different degrees of bullet wounds as a result of the shots.
A driver suspected to be one of the tanker drivers was sighted with a bullet wound on the leg.
Shipping Position Daily correspondent who was at the scene of the incidence reported that movement from Coconut bus stop down to Mile 2 was restricted as angry tanker drivers and motor boys were seeing protesting the killing of one of their own.
Roads users along the axis including dealers at the Berger automobile market were seen running for their lives as the police, in other to scare the protesting mob, started shooting sporadically in the air and also using the tear gas.
When contacted, the Dry Cargo Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) Alhaji Abdullahi Inuwa, told Shipping Position Daily that he is yet to get the full gist of what happened.
“I don’t really know what happened, I am yet to get the full gist of what actually happened, they just brought one of the drivers here now with a bullet wound on his leg. They said he was one of the person shot by the police” he said.
Our correspondent could not ascertain the cause of the shooting as at the time of filing this report.
