National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); Prince Olayiwola Shittu has said that the training programmes conducted by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) should only be for staff of licensed customs agents and companies.
Speaking with Shipping Position Daily recently, Prince Shittu noted that the council was made because of customs license agents so that it can train the staff working in their agencies. He recalled that a former President of the association had also said that CRFFN was supposed to be owned by ANLCA.
He however lamented that the original plan is being eroded by the actions of the management of the CRFFN who have gone ahead to register multiple associations in other to have more people to pay and be trained.
“Shittu said that “CRFFN training would have been for staff of licensed customs agents, this was why our former president said that CRFFN was supposed to be owned by ANLCA, this means that the council was made because of customs licensed agents so that they can train the staff working in these agencies”
“But because of the urge to make money, the more the merrier, they decided to register more people”
“How come that ANLCA became a member of CRFFN, the leaders of ANLCA then, felt that whatever name you call somebody, the idea is that the existing regulation of you becoming a licensed agent should have been duplicated with CRFFN”
“All other associations are in freight forwarding but ANLCA is the only group with licensed customs owners” he stressed.
