Hundreds of students who wrote the Joint Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination and who had chosen the embattled Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), in Oron, Akwa Ibom state as their preferred higher institution have chided the academy for dashing their hopes.
Shipping Position Daily recalls that the academy’s interim management committee had recently stopped further admission processes for the 2017/2018 academic session.
The no admission directive was also confirmed to our correspondent by the academy’s public relations officer; Mr Sidi Mpkadiok. He had also explained that prospective intakes have been advised to come for a refund of the post UTME examinations fees that they paid.
The embattled students have taken to the social media to request the refund of the money that they had paid.
One of them, Giwa Omo Salami, wrote “Good day @all..Could you please tell me d process to go through before my money can be refunded, how can I apply? Is it through email or I have to come to Akwa Ibom and is there anyone who have been refunded. Waiting for your Reply”.
Yet another who gave his name as Roland Esin wanted to know when the post-UTME screening would take place. “Pls wen will 2017/2018 screening will take place in maritime academy of Nigeria (M.A.N)”, he asked.
Another student; Giwa Omo Salami wrote: “Pls how can I get d money back. I have all d necessary refund documents.”
