A woodworking planner was intercepted at Port BOTANY in Australia, containing 110 kilograms of methamphetamine. Authorities are seeking assistance from the public to identify the owner.
The illicit drugs were discovered by officers from the Australian Border Force (ABF) who detected irregularities in the X-ray scan of a shipping container that had recently arrived from the United States. Upon inspecting the container, officials found a high-end woodworking planner from a reputable American company. After disassembling the equipment, they uncovered 22 concealed packages containing a white crystalline substance, which was later confirmed to be methamphetamine.
Subsequently, the Australian Police Force seized the drugs, and efforts are underway to determine both the recipients and senders of the cargo. AFP Detective Acting Superintendent Jeremy Staunton stated that the 110 kilograms of methamphetamine would have been sufficient for approximately a million street-level drug deals.
The Australian Police Force is urging the public to come forward if they have been approached to receive shipments of large equipment or if they have been asked to store such shipments temporarily.
