Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero has told the contractors handling the rehabilitation work at the Tin Can Island access road to expedite action on the construction work currently being  under taken to ease traffic in and out of the Ports.
Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero stated this on Wednesday when he undertook an inspection of the project at the Tin Can Island Port, Apapa.

The contract for the rehabilitation of the 3.5km access road spanning from the second gate of Tin Can Island Port to the PTML was signed recently to ameliorate the suffering being encountered by Nigerians that use the facility on a regular basis.
The Managing Director reiterated that the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority had equally signed a memorandum of understanding with a road construction firm for a quick fix of the Liverpool roundabout and other deplorable portions of the road leading to Apapa Port.
The Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority is currently collaborating with the Ministry of Works through the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to make the entire road network within the Tin Can Island/Apapa axis motorable, said Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero.
He re-emphasised that the NPA, being a responsible and responsive organization will not fold her arms while the citizens of Nigeria paved through the hurricane in an effort to eke out a living through the Ports in Apapa.
While welcoming the Managing Director, NPA to Tin Can Island Port, the Port Manager, and Mr. Babatunde Alonge said that the management’s quick response to the deplorable state of the access road that stretched from Apapa to Mile 2 will ameliorate the incessant sufferings of the Nigerian Ports Authority’s personnel.
The Managing Director also inspected the two Bollard Pull Marine Tug Boats recently acquired by the management of NPA.
According to the Managing Director, the acquisition of the state-of-the-art tug boats was a milestone in the Nigerian Ports Authority’s effort to boost the effective and efficient berthing and unberthing of bigger vessels in NPA channels, even as he added that more tug boats are expected to arrive soon.
The Managing Director took an extensive inspection of the tug boats facilitated by the Managing Director, Lagos Channel Management, Mr Danny Fuchs.
