The Head of Shipping Development Department in Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA); Mr Akin Akinyosoye, has been awarded the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Academy Fellowship.
The Head, Corporate Communications Team, Hajia Lami Tumaka, said this last week in a statement in Lagos.
According to her, the award is in recognition of Akinyosoye’s participation in the 3rd Port Management Programme (PMP) held in Singapore with other participants drawn from various parts of the world.
She said, “The PMP covers a wide range of topics including master planning for new ports, maximising efficiencies in container/cargo terminal operations and vessel traffic management using state of the art equipment, amongst others.’’
Akinyosoye has more than 25 years’ experience in the maritime sector.
He has at various times served NIMASA as Head, Cabotage Services Department; Head, Planning Research and Data Management Services Department; and Coordinator of the Central Zonal Office in Warri.
He holds a BSc in Economics with a Masters in Business Administration and has attended several Management and professional courses within and outside the country.
Akinyosoye belongs to several professional associations including Member, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport; Fellow, Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria, amongst others.
