As the crisis rocking the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) lingers, members of the association have said that going to court is not the best measure towards ensuring that peace returns to the association.
Some members of the association said this in a separate chats with Shipping Position Daily last week in Apapa.
They however opined that court can only give you judgment based on evidences at hand, stressing that the only way out of the trouble is to have a round table discussion and reach a compromise.
A chieftain of the association who is also a former Tin-Can Island Vice chairman of the association, Chief Achike Molokwu maintained that there is a need to apply Godly manner towards handling the crisis.
“There are two principles towards addressing the crisis, policies and Godly manners towards the issues that is to ay let peace reign. It is not a court issue, let us come together play some politics, take this and I take that. And most importantly let’s involve God in it and we now ask those that are involved in it to let it go because God is on control”
“It cannot be resolved with court issue if we involve court it will take us another two years. it is about lets be together and move together let us look at the association as one party where after quarrelling the committee will come together for peace to reign”
Also speaking, Mr. Pius Ujubuonu said a recourse must be made to the constitution guiding the association with a view of correcting the wrongs in the association.
Ujubuonu called on all members of the association to come together and have a critical look in the crisis rocking the association and let go of some certain things.
“And the only way to resolve them is to have recourse to the constitution guiding the association and then finding where the things are going wrong with the view to correcting them. Rushing to court sometimes, the court may just give judgment based on the evidences before then but it does not solve the problem. What should be the best way to approach it is for everybody looking at the problems critically with a view to concession”
“Different group conceding so that they will have a meeting point and have a resolution that is the way I am looking at it. If the members of the board are able to put their ass together, those who can concede certain grounds we will have all these matters resolved and then the president should be able to hit the ground running”
He added that it will be difficult for any president of an association to perform under a crisis- ridden atmosphere.
Ujubuonu added that instead of blaming the president, he should be appreciated.
“A president whose administration is crisis-ridden nobody expects the best from him because the distractions will be so many. Instead of putting the president under blame, he should be appreciated and helped because there is nothing he can do because he wants the loyalty of everybody”
“He will not run anybody down, he wants a situation where all the parties should be able to come together on one table. If he wants to be strong on any group the other group will be feeling bad. So it is always good to play the fool, so that at the end of the day there will be peace so he can’t be blamed for not doing enough because he is looking for an easy administration”, he concluded.
