The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has dissolved the executive council which was headed by Mr Dele Aderibigbe to pave way for fresh elections.
Consequently, a three-member caretaker committee headed by the association’s former president, Mr Sesan Onileimo was overwhelmingly appointed to oversee activities pending when elections would be conducted. Members of the committee include: Mr Paul Orie and Mr Kingsley Anaroke.
The caretaker body was also charged with the responsibility of conducting elections into the association’s executive council.
The development was the highpoint of the association’s emergency meeting which held on Thursday March 5, 2009 at the association’s secretariat situated within Tin Can Island port complex in Lagos.
Accepting the challenge of the temporary assignment, Mr Onileimo assured that his committee would perform its duties creditably, even as he acknowledged that the task was a challenging one.
He assured members of the association that the committee would conduct credible elections in a few weeks.
