Leading player in the down stream oil and maritime sectors of Nigeria’s economy Capital Oil and Gas, Capital Oil and Gas has funded the visitation of a team of maritime sector players to Singapore on a trade mission.
The trade mission was facilitated by Nigerian Chamber of Shipping whose president, Olorogun Oscar Ibru led the delegation.
Justifying the trip and explaining the rationale behind it, Ibru said that the mission was a fulfilment of the Chambers plans to engage in trade missions to countries adding that the trips would be aimed at facilitating genuine business relationship in ship financing, marine insurance, classification societies, maritime education, port management, ship building and, among others.
Managing Director of Capital Oil, Mr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah, who also seized the opportunity of the pre-trade mission trip, disclosed that the company was already constructing what is bound to be the biggest private jetty in the country.
Ubah explained that when completed, the jetty which is located in Lagos will be a 683 metres berth facility with a draught of between 10 and 12 metres, capable of berthing four vessels of between 30,000 and 40,000 metric tons at a time.
But speaking further on the trade mission to the Asian country, Ibru added that the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping would be “encouraged to step up its advisory role to the government with the view to giving strong advocacy to the government.”
Capital Oil and Gas Limited, which sponsored some members of the trade mission to Singapore said it was poised at providing the opportunity for the participation of the indigenous sector in the lucrative facets of the world shipping and allied business, besides the zeal to pull other organisations along, in the ultimate move to improve the Nigerian economy.
