The Association of Registered Freight Forwarders of Nigeria (AREFFN), Tin Can Island Port Chapter has appointed new executives to pilot its affairs for one year.

AREFFN

While presenting appointment letters to the new executives at the association’s national secretariat in Lagos on Thursday, the National Secretary, AREFFN, Mr. Frank Obiekezie charged members at the chapter level to embrace capacity development through training and retraining.

Obiekezie noted that adequate knowledge will enhance well informed and accurate engagement with Customs on trade facilitation, adding that capacity building was paramount for every member of the association.

He stressed that the association has observed that some of its chapters were not living up to expectations, hence the leadership has decided to restructure the chapters for effective operational activities at the ports.

Obiekezie noted that the new executives are to inject fresh ideas and innovation into the association for effective performance, pointing out that AREFFN is not contesting with other associations in the freight forwarding sub sector.

“If the chapters are strong, then the national level will also be strong. We have noticed that some of our executives are not living up to expectations, so we have decided to restructure the leadership of the chapters. We started with KLT Chapter last week and now we are at Tin Can. This is a moving train and after Tin Can we are likely to also move to Apapa chapter. This is to promote effectiveness in the associations. We want to make sure that by February next year, we have not less than four functioning and active chapters.

“It is a call to service. You are to inject fresh ideas and innovation to the association through capacity building for effective performance.

“AREFFN is a registered association and accredited body under the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding In Nigeria (CRFFN ) and must make impact by training its members. Shun violence or any form of fighting. AREFFN is not competing or fighting with other freight forwarding associations” he said.
