The National Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA); Mr. Babatunde Mukaila has said the Association Electoral Commission (ASECO) of ANLCA is an institution that will still deliver on its mandate, even as the association mourns the death of its former Chairman; Mr Alloy Anokwuru.

The ANLCA scribe in a recent chat with our correspondent said the death of the former ASECO Chairman will not affect the association’s election and that the election will still be held as scheduled.

Mukaila informed that the association will be activating Section31 subsection 1 of the ANLCA constitution which says under emergency power when situation arise which is not contemplated, both the NECOM jointly with the Board of Trustees and NECOM only, can go ahead and take decisions in the best interest of the association.

According to him, “everything is okay, ASECO is an institution, once we are out of the mourning mood period declared, ASECO will carry on with their jobs, the constitution is very clear that when there is a demise of an office holder, there will be time to mourn and a time to declare the seat vacant.

“In my letter indicating notice of his demise, I said ANLCA will be activating Section 31 subsection 1 of the ANLCA constitution which says under emergency power; when situation arose which is not contemplated, both the NECOM co-jointly with the Board or NECOM only can go ahead and take decisions in the best interest of the association.

“So, to cut it very short, ASECO is an institution that will still deliver on their mandate while we mourn the dead, so it has nothing to do with the election, the election will still come as scheduled,” he assured.

Recall that the ASECO Chairman; late Alloy Anokwuru died in the early hours of last week Sunday following a brief illness.
