The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has confirmed that the appointment of the new chairman of the Association Electoral Commission (ASECO) will still be zoned to the Igbos in order to maintain peace in the association.
The BoT hinted this following the passing away of the former ASECO chairman, Chief Alloy Anokuru about two weeks ago.
Speaking specifically to our correspondent last week, Mr. Eniola Igbaruola a member of the new Board of Trustees of the association, stated that although the BoT is yet to meet, he however hinted that the appointment will still be zoned to the Igbos in the association, so as to maintain the relatively peace in the association.
He explained that the appointment of a new ASECO chairman will be carried out by the board, but said that will be done after the two weeks mourning period in honour of the deceased chairman.

He however said the BoT is yet to seat and decide who becomes the next ASECO chairman, adding that, as soon as the BoT Chairman Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha is back from his trip, the board will meet to decide on the way forward.
When asked to give names pencilled down for consideration as the next ASECO chairman, he declined and said when the BoT chairman is back, the appointment process will start.
“As soon as the chairman is back, we will start the appointment properly. By then the two-week mourning period will be over, you know it won’t be proper for us to appoint ASECO Chairman while we are still mourning. So as soon as the mourning period is over the appointment will take place. The appointment of the new chairman will most likely come from the Igbo extraction in order to maintain peace in the association” he said.
