In his pursuit of forging strong partnerships with relevant institutions and agencies, the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has sought the support of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) for the upcoming CGC Annual Conference
This request was made during a visit by Professor Ayo Omotayo, the Director-General of NIPSS, and his management team to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Customs Service at Nigeria Headquarters Service Abuja on Wednesday
The Acting CGC expressed confidence that the conference would emphasize significant achievements, solidifying the outcomes and enhancing the NCS’s ability to fulfill its mandate. He extended his gratitude to DG NIPSS for initiating the steps leading to the MoU signing and acknowledged the dedicated legal teams from both sides. He pledged unwavering commitment to upholding the spirit and content of the MoU.
Director-General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo, explained the agency’s rationale for engaging with the NCS, which includes assisting in the NCS’s repositioning efforts to improve its effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate. He urged Acting Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR to transform the NCS into a more effective service, not only in revenue collection but also in facilitating trade and supporting the industrialization of other sectors of the Nigerian economy.
The DG of NIPSS emphasized the importance of the Nigeria Customs Service adopting data-driven approaches to model Nigeria’s economy in the years ahead. Professor Ayo Omotayo shared his enthusiasm for the potential of a new era of progress through collaboration between both organizations, envisioning it as a catalyst for the nation’s advancement.
