The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Mr Pius Akutah has reiterated the council’s commitment to enhancing smooth flow of cargo movement and improving port efficiencies in Nigeria.
This affirmation was made during a courtesy visit by the management of Lekki Deep Sea Port, led by the Managing Director of Lekki Port LFTZ Enterprise Limited (LPLEL), Mr. Du-Ruogang to the NSC’s Headquarters in Lagos on Thursday.
According to an official statement signed by the NSC Deputy Director, Public Relations Unit, Rakiya Dhikru-Yagboyaju, she noted that the Executive Secretary underscored the Council’s dedication to fostering a collaborative relationship with the Lekki Deep Sea Port.
Expressing gratitude for the visit, Atukah emphasized the Council’s eagerness to establish strategic partnerships aimed at bolstering the port’s operational capacities within the country.
While speaking, Mr. Du-Ruogang highlighted Lekki Deep Sea Port’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy since its commencement of commercial operations in 2023. He stressed on the port’s capability to accommodate sizable vessels, further affirming its role in bolstering the nation’s maritime trade.
During discussions, Mr. Du-Ruogang congratulated Barr. Akutah on his appointment and commended NSC’s pivotal role in regulating port activities nationwide. Du-Ruogang also expressed appreciation for the consistent support extended to Lekki Port by the Council
The Lekki Port Managing Director further advocated for the continuation of this partnership, highlighting the mutual benefits for both entities and Nigeria as a whole. He also stressed on the collective goal of positioning Nigeria as the maritime hub for West and Central Africa.
