Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a maritime security firm has announced the acquisition of five fixed-wing hybrid VTOL drones from China to bolster the mapping and surveillance of oil communities in the Niger Delta.
Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, the Executive Director of Operations and Technical Services at Tantita, revealed this development during his keynote address at the African Maritime Environment Sustainability Initiative (AFMESI) 4th annual symposium and workshop, which held in Lagos on Tuesday.
The fixed-wing hybrid VTOL drones represent the latest in drone technology, capable of vertical take-off and landing.
They combine the extended range and flight time of traditional fixed-wing UAVs, up to three hours with the vertical take-off and landing capabilities of rotary-wing devices. This design eliminates the need for large takeoff and landing spaces, making them ideal for mapping, pipeline inspection, surveillance, agriculture, and rescue operations.
