In a move aimed at enhancing the efficiency and management of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has approved the appointment of Igwe Kingsley Onyekachi as the substantive Registrar/CEO of the Council.
Onyekachi, who previously served as the National Secretary of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), will now lead CRFFN, taking over from acting Registrar/CEO Mrs. Chinyere Uromta.
According to a press statement issued by Muhammad Tahir Zakari Head, Press & PR, Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, he explained that the appointment is in accordance with the CRFFN Act of 2007, is for a four-year term, as outlined in an official letter signed by the Director of Maritime Services, Mr. Babatunde J. Sule, on behalf of the Honourable Minister.
Onyekachi, 44, hails from Imo State and holds a master’s degree in Transportation and Logistics. An active registered member of the CRFFN, he brings substantial experience to his new role.
This appointment comes amid efforts to stabilize CRFFN, which has faced challenges in recent months, including a crisis of confidence and insolvency that halted salary payments since January. The Honourable Minister recently intervened by arranging a bailout loan to address the Council’s financial issues.
The appointment according to the press statement is effective immediately.
