The United States Navy reported that the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN75) collided with Panama-flagged bulk carrier BESIKTAS M. The incident occurred on 12th February, at around 11:46 PM local time, while operating in the Mediterranean Sea near the Port SAID in Egypt.
According to the initial reports, the incident did not compromise the safety of USS Harry S. Truman. No flooding or injuries were reported. The aircraft carrier’s propulsion remained unaffected and in a stable condition. The officials have initiated an investigation into the incident.
The US Navy has not released information regarding the condition of the BESIKTAS M. However, a image posted on private social media account suggest that the bulk carrier sustained damage to its starboard bow and deck.
The Marine Traffic data shows the vessel arrived at PORT SAID Anchorage on 13th February and departed on 14th February for CONSTANTA, Romania.
