The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has reinforced its commitment to corporate social responsibility with the donation of a specialized, adjustable dental chair to General Hospital, Apapa in Lagos.
The donation, aimed at strengthening oral healthcare services within the Apapa community, forms part of the Council’s sustained efforts to foster healthy relationships with its host communities and support initiatives that enhance public well-being.
The equipment was presented to the hospital by a delegation led by the Director of the Special Duties Department on behalf of the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Akutah Pius.
Speaking during the presentation, the Council’s representative, Mr Moses Abere reaffirmed NSC’s commitment to supporting interventions that directly improve the quality of life of Nigerians. He noted that access to quality healthcare remains a critical component of sustainable community development, stressing that the Council is proud to contribute to strengthening medical infrastructure in areas where it operates.
The newly donated dental chair is equipped with adjustable and specialized features designed to enhance patient comfort and improve the efficiency of dental procedures. The equipment is expected to reduce procedural strain on practitioners while ensuring a better treatment experience for patients.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital, the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer, Lateefat Omolara Agbaje, described the gesture as timely and impactful. She said the equipment would significantly boost the hospital’s dental unit, improve access to oral healthcare services for residents of Apapa and neighbouring communities, and help expand treatment capacity while reducing waiting times.
The donation underscores the Council’s longstanding tradition of supporting host communities through impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives. Beyond its statutory mandate of regulating and promoting efficiency in the maritime sector, the Nigerian Shippers’ Council continues to demonstrate its dedication to sustainable development through strategic social investments.
