The crisis rocking the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has further degenerated to insult and tantrums throwing as the two factional chairmen of the association at Tin Can Chapter port; Mr Ojo Akintoye and Alhaji Muhammed Mojeed, have been at loggerheads over who has the right to call for a strike action at the port.
Recall that Alhaji Muhammed Mojeed, had last week said the association at Tin Can, will embark on a strike action against the 15% NAC levy introduced by the Ministry of finance.
Mojeed had argued that he has the constitutional backing to embark on strike, which is against the instruction of the acting national president; Dr.Kayode Farinto that the association should not embark on strike for now.
Mojeed had argued that Farinto’s tenure as Vice President of ANLCA has since expired and he no longer represents or speaks for the association.
However, in a counter response to the statement by Alhaji Muhammed Mojeed, the factional chairman Tin Can Chapter, Mr. Ojo Akintoye in a telephone chat with our correspondent questioned the capacity at which Muhammed Mojeed was calling for strike, he argued that only the National executive can give a nod to a strike action which he said will not only be at Tin Can alone but across the ports.
Akintoye lampooned his counterpart for rubbishing the National Executive Committee of the association, while stating that his counterpart lacks the knowledge of what the ANLCA constitution stipulates.
According to him, “as a genuine member of ANLCA under the law, we would like the public to know that and we have even said our strike would not be at Tincan alone it will be nationwide, if we want the federal government to fill our impact and to know that we are a member of the economic drive as far as the country is concerned, the strike against the 15%0 levy will be nationwide.
“Let me also state for the umpteenth time that Mojeed is not representing ANLCA, not only that, he was saying that the tenure of Dr. Kayode Farinto has elapsed, it’s laughable, when you don’t know anything about an organization you claim you are in, then you become a nuisance. If he is aware that the NECOM is the highest organ of that association, he will also know that whatever the NECOM says it’s binding, so it’s funny he is saying that the BOT are the owners of the association, it’s a laughable matter, Mojeed has no right to insult the national body, he does not have any respect, it’s not about age, it’s about position, he can be a friend to Kayode Farinto or his Father, it does not matter, Kayode Farinto is representing the entire body in the capacity of acting president of ANLCA today and there is nothing that can change that, and to correct him, the impression that the BOT are the owners of association, he does not even know, I don’t think he has opened the constitution of ANLCA once in his lifetime, to know what the roles of the BOT and the roles of the NECOM is.

“He should not mislead the public by the rubbish he is saying; himself and his group are no where representing ANLCA in any capacity. Before anybody can emerge as the chairman of the chapter in ANLCA, he must be elected, it’s not by appointment, you can be appointed for an interim order. so he was not elected and was not recognized by any law of ANLCA by the constitution
“He should stop deceiving himself, the time is fast approaching for them to know the difference between their left and right.
“ANLCA members are not into thuggery, they are professionals, so he should stop deceiving anybody he should not send the wrong information to you” he said.
