Barring unforeseen circumstances, all is set for the controversial Annual General Meeting and Elections into the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Nigerian Customs Licensed Agents (ANLCA).
The twin programmes are scheduled for today(Wednesday)
Chairman of the Association Electoral Commission (ASECO) of ANLCA; Barr. Raymond Onyimba, told our correspondent last week that, about 15 persons have so far indicated interests in becoming members of the new BoT, at an election which he said is slated for Imo state.
He informed that the essence of the AGM is not necessarily because of the board election, but said the constitution states that the election of the board can only take place during the AGM, while adding that there will be opportunity for e- voting for members who will not be at the venue physically.
According to him, “it is at the section of the AGM that a meeting for election of the board will take place, not necessarily that the AGM is for election of board members, just that the constitution states that board election will only take place during the AGM because it is the members of the association as a whole that will be voting for the BoT”,
Reacting to the proposed AGM and election of the BoT, the factional chairman of the board, Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha in a chat with our correspondent stated that he is not perturbed about the AGM/election of the board.
“I am aware of whatever they are doing, let them go ahead and be deceiving themselves, no problem”, he simply said.
