Apapa Customs Sets New Record with ₦20.1bn Daily Collection Under New CAC Oshoba

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a landmark revenue collection of ₦20.1 billion in a single day, barely 24 hours after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed duty as the new Customs Area Controller of the command.

According to official figures, the command raked in ₦20,156,077,098.56 on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, a feat described as the highest daily revenue collection ever recorded by any command of the NCS under the Unified Customs Management System, also known as B’Odogwu. The amount surpasses the previous record of ₦18 billion achieved earlier by the same command.

The development is seen as a strong signal of Oshoba’s intention to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor and drive the command towards meeting and surpassing its revenue targets. In his maiden address on Monday, the new Customs boss had vowed to sustain efficiency and deepen productivity at the Apapa Command, widely regarded as the flagship revenue unit of the service.

Shortly after resuming duty, Oshoba held a meeting with senior officers where he charged them to step up performance levels. He reminded them that results were the real measure of hard work and dedication, stressing that the command could deliver more under his watch.

Speaking on the record revenue, Oshoba described the achievement as only the beginning of what he envisages for the command. He cautioned against early celebration, insisting that greater exploits lie ahead as the command pursues trade facilitation, integrity in operations, and the curbing of smuggling.

“I commend my team and stakeholders for this milestone of ₦20.1 billion in a single day just 24 hours after I assumed duty. But it is not yet time for applause. Clapping means removing your two hands from work, and this is the time for more action,” Oshoba said.

He added that the B’Odogwu platform had become a necessity for modern and efficient customs administration in Nigeria, with the potential to reinforce the country’s standing as Africa’s largest economy and a hub for trade facilitation.

The Comptroller urged his officers to sustain momentum while appealing to stakeholders to remain committed to compliance in order to sustain the gains.
