The Zonal Coordinator ‘Zone A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), ACG Charles Orbih, has urged newly promoted officers at the Apapa Command to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Speaking at the decoration ceremony held at the Command’s auditorium on Tuesday, ACG Orbih highlighted the significance of the promotions, particularly the elevation of 14 former Deputy Comptrollers to the rank of Comptroller. He emphasized that their new ranks are a testament to their dedication, urging them to demonstrate enhanced leadership qualities in their new roles.
He further charged them with the responsibility of maintaining the Apapa Command’s reputation as a leading revenue-generating and trade facilitation hub while strengthening anti-smuggling efforts and national security operations.
“As the premier port of NCS in Zone A, you must maintain an unprecedented standard in revenue collection, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, and national security,” Orbih stated.
Also speaking at the event, the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Port, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and commended their resilience, hard work, and dedication. He noted that their promotion is not just a reward for past achievements but also a call to even greater service.
He praised their commitment, which contributed to the Apapa Command generating a record N2.3 trillion in revenue for the Federal Government in 2024, and challenged them to surpass their previous performance.
The list of newly promoted officers includes 14 Deputy Comptrollers elevated to the rank of Comptroller, 17 Assistant Comptrollers promoted to Deputy Comptrollers, and 50 Chief Superintendents of Customs advancing to the rank of Assistant Comptroller.
Additionally, some Deputy Comptrollers were recognized with plaques for their exceptional service. Among the awardees were the Area Controller of Tin Can Island Port Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, who was honored for his outstanding service as DC in charge of the Apapa gate; Comptroller FM Muhammed; Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku; Comptroller Aisha Abdul; and Comptroller CV Eyapade.
