Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu,demonstrated a heightened level of collaboration with sister agencies by participating in the Walk Against Drugs.
This event was organized to commemorate the 2024 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.
The walk, according to a press statement issued by the spokeswoman of the command Abubakar Usman saw the active participation of the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Apapa Special Area Command, along with representatives from other government agencies operating within the port.
He said the joint effort aimed to raise public awareness about the severe dangers associated with drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
Comptroller Olomu emphasized the critical importance of inter-agency collaboration for effective intelligence sharing and enhancing public safety.
“Such collaboration between sister agencies of government is crucial for intelligence sharing and ensuring public safety,” he stated. He highlighted that the collective efforts of security agencies lead to greater success and more robust protection of communities than isolated efforts.
Olomu reiterated the significance of the event. He noted that the walk and other similar initiatives are vital in fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual support among different security and regulatory agencies.
The Walk Against Drugs is a part of a broader strategy to engage the public and reinforce the message of zero tolerance for drug abuse and trafficking.
