History was made yesterday as the leadership of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders(NAGAFF) for the first time moved from the South-East to South-West geo-political zone of the country. The new President of the association; Mr Oluwole Adeyemi took over from Chief Eugene Nweke.

Although the new President was absent at the take-over ceremony, the outgoing President; Chief Eugene Nweke handed over all ‘necessary materials’ to the chairman Board of Trustees; Chief Chidiebere Enelamah.

While Speaking during the handover ceremony which held at NAGAFF headquarters in Lagos, out -going President of the association, Chief Eugene Nweke expressed optimism that the new president would live up to expectations, describing him as someone who is committed to the association’s activities.

Nweke further expressed delight, handing over to someone who hails from South West, saying that the association gives room for true reflection of the country’s six geo political zones.

“To my successor , Forwareder Lion Oluwole Adeyemi, I have no iota of doubt as regards your commitment and love for NAGAFF”

“Equally, I am particular happy that I am handing over to a president from South West, having succeeded a President from the South South, myself. A President from the South west, this obviously makes room for a true reflection of the canvassed geo political representation, in the eye of federal character representation”, he told the gathering of senior members of the association.

Canvassing support for the new NAGAFF President, ,Nweke urged members of the association to rally-round him, most especially, the National Executives Council members.

Speaking shortly after the handing over, the BoT chairman; Chief Enelamah said that NAGAFF has come a long way despite the oppression and opposition from other groups.

He also described Eugene Nweke as a technocrat in the maritime sector, noting that stepping aside from NAGAFF marks the beginning of a new dawn in his affairs.

Enelamah said that the new President emerged from a state where great spiritual leaders have emerged; adding that there is need to support the new NAGAFF boss.

He implored members to respect the new leader, even as he assured that there is need for onward transition in affairs of the association.

However, he added that the inauguration proper will come up on Thursday, saying that yesterday’s event was the first phase.
