The posts of the Chairman, Vice Chairman and the Assistant Secretary were keenly contested for while the other positions such as the Public Relations Officer, Treasurer, Secretary, Financial Secretary and the Membership Officer had only one contestant.
The new executive council members who were elected to pilot the affairs of the branch for the next two years are: Mr. Paul Okechukwu Ndibe of Nigerian Railway Corporation; Chairman, Capt. James Ajayi of Pan African Airlines; Vice Chairman, Mrs. Rakiya Nneka Nuhu of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, who retained her position as the Public Relations Officer. Others are: Mr. Fidelis Akpa; Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Ande of Nigerian Ports Authority; Assistant Secretary, Mr. Kazeem Kasali of ABC Transport; Financial Secretary and Mrs. Augusta Ojeme of the Nigerian Ports Authority; Treasurer. The out-going Chairman, Mr. SegunTimi also emerged as ex-officio member.
The new executive council members were immediately sworn-in and inaugurated by the Vice President, CILT Western Zone Alh. Sufy Abdulmalik, who was supported by National Executive Director of CILT, Mr. Francis Ehiguese.
In Mr. Paul Ndibe’s acceptance speech, he promised to reposition the Institute during his tenure as Chairman and turn the Lagos Branch into achieving its goals and objectives. He solicited the cooperation and dedication of all members of the institute and pledged to use his expertise and influence to uplift the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
